Responsible Authorities

Below you can refer to the responsible authorities for the public administration and operation of the G.E.MI.

1. GENERAL SECRETARIAT OF COMMERCE & CONSUMER PROTECTION, DIRECTORATE GENERAL FOR COMPANIES & NON-FINANCIAL CORPORATIONS, DEPARTMENT OF INSTITUTIONAL REGULATION AND GENERAL COMMERCIAL REGISTER

The Department C’ Institutional Regulations and General Commercial Register does not have the competence to register in the G.E.MI. but only to interpret and initiate legislation relating to the legislation on companies and G.E.MI. such as, but not limited to:

 

α) The study and proposal of measures for the legislative treatment of commercial companies (partnerships and limited liability companies).
b) The monitoring of Community legislation concerning capital companies, the European company and the harmonization of Greek law on capital companies and the commercial register with the law of the European Union.
(c) The issuance of circulars and the provision of instructions to the competent local services for the correct application of the existing legislation on domestic limited liability companies, limited liability companies, private limited companies, partnerships and branches of foreign limited liability companies and limited liability companies.
d) Monitoring the operation of the General Commercial Register (G.E.MI.).
ε) providing instructions to the G.E.MI. services and the competent local regional services supervising public limited liability companies for the correct application of the legislation on the G.E.MI.
(g) The study and proposal of measures for the legislative treatment of issues relating to the maintenance and operation of the G.E.MI.

2. CENTRAL SERVICE OF THE G.E.MI.

The Central Service of the G.E.MI. operates within the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce and is responsible for the technological support of the information systems of the G.E.MI., and in particular for:

 

a) the organization and supervision of the database or databases that make up the G.E.MI., as well as the website of the G.E.MI.
(b) the normal, continuous and secure operation of the operating system, the network and the general equipment and software serving the database,
(c) the accreditation of persons authorised to register and the permanent accessibility of the database by authorised persons,
(d) the immediate and, in chronological order, downloading and storage of the data transmitted
(e) ensuring the integrity, accuracy, completeness and security of the data
(f) the normal, continuous and secure operation of the GIS in the European System of Interconnection of Registers

3. SERVICES OF THE CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE OF THE COUNTRY

The G.E.MI. services of the Chambers of Commerce of the country, which are responsible for:

 

a) the initial registration (registration) of obligors in the G.E.MI. who are not subject to the One-Stop Services and any subsequent additional registration, modification or deletion of existing registrations of all obligors
(b) the receipt, filing and verification of the legality of the relevant applications and accompanying documents, as well as the verification of the legality of the legal acts, declarations, documents and other data relating to the debtors and justifying the registration, amendment or deletion
(c) the issuing of certificates, copies and extracts of registered acts and particulars upon request of the person concerned submitted exclusively in electronic form
(d) answering queries transmitted via the European electronic platform for the interconnection of European registers

We note that the G.E.MI. Services of the Chambers are competent for the registration of acts and the issuance of certificates for all persons subject to registration in the GEMI, regardless of their legal form, except for those for whom the Companies & GEMI Directorate of the General Secretariat of the Chamber of Commerce is competent.
